Inventory Struggle – A Material Manager’s Experience
“After switching to IQMS we could not get our inventory under control. It didn’t help that the company never tracked inventory systematically prior to IQMS implementation. We faced an uphill battle of developing muscles we never had of tracking inventory via ERP system while implementing a new ERP system.
Hila joined the team, set her desk at the center of the manufacturing floor and worked with logistics, production, engineering and finance to solve inventory discrepancies as they came up. As she found the root cause of the discrepancy she trained the relevant team members and worked with quality to update our procedures. She identified mistakes in BOM’s and trained engineering on proper BOM creation. She created custom reports that identified manual adjustments that were driving the system crazy as well as trained floor operators on correct production reporting.
Within a few weeks we started seeing a difference. Within 3 month we quadrupled inventory accuracy. We finished the year with an overall inventory accuracy of 95%. It had a rippling positive affect on production and quality.”
ISO Implementation – An Auditor’s Perspective
“As a Quality Systems Auditor I visit many different companies and get very familiar with their QMS. Most companies use multiple systems and are struggling to find one that they truly love and one that is user-friendly. Observing Hila as the ISO Management Representative implement a system that works was a remarkable journey. ISO 13485 Implementation – A VP of Quality Perspective
“Our quality department was tasked with creating a systematic approach to enact quality processes across the corporate entities utilizing DelmiaWorks (IQMS) enterprise software. Hila enthusiastically lead this effort. She deployed the software quality modules in compliance with the medical device standard ISO 13485, a key element of the deliverables. She worked closely with the quality team and assured the quality modules worked within the scope of our business and were practical for the team to use. In addition she successfully integrated the different quality modules so that they ‘talked’ to each other while providing meaningful information to the production floor. The new processes included alerts and notifications regarding approvals and timed events to assure that the quality system developed auditable records and remained in compliance. We knew the project was successful when 6 months after implementation, the ISO auditors voiced their satisfaction with how well we presented the quality system and met the ISO 13485 requirements.”
Maintenance, Repair and Operation (MRO) – A Manager’s Experience
“Communication is critical for a maintenance team in a facility with 24/7 operations. Prioritizing resources over every shift was needed. Hila set up the MRO module to automate the necessary information for the maintenance technicians. The system she put together provided up-to-the-minute open preventative maintenance work orders and unplanned maintenance activities as well as checks and balances for managers to assure the department was running as expected. Once implemented, this system allowed management to efficiently evaluate equipment needs and replacement justification, resulting in cost savings & competitive advantage.”
